Week 36: MOVIE MOVIE MOVIE

Well to be honest this week was a blur but nothing really happened? We had Zone Conference on Thursday which was a good spiritual refill. Elder Nordgren and I gave some trainings in our Zone's breakout session. We got to watch about 46 seconds of "Master and Commander" and when it came on everyone was all excited and it reminded me of the scene in the A-Team when Murdock is in the insane hospital and he gets everyone to start chanting "movie, movie, movie" and he starts passing out 3D glasses and there's popcorn and then they all get quiet when it starts and then the hummer comes through the wall and they all cheer. Good times.

This week we saw some amazing blessings in the form of 3 new investigators! One of them came because we had a dinner with a less active family and the father is not a member. He talked about how sometimes he is left with a lot of questions regarding religion after reading from the Bible so we talked to him a little bit about the Book of Mormon and how we got it after Joseph Smith restored the true church of Jesus Christ. We invited him to meet with us again and learn more and he along with the rest of the family seemed very excited to get that underway. The other two new investigators are Patty and Diane whom we tracted into a while ago. We tried by and they were home so we quickly taught a restoration lesson and invited them to church because they said that they've been looking for a church since they moved up to the desert. We tried them again a couple days ago and a man came to the door and ordered us off the property so hopefully they end up calling us or something. Our investigator Vivian wasn't able to make it to church which really got us down but we went over after church to make sure everything was okay which gave us the opportunity to meet her nephew whom she will be moving in with. He is actually a member and said he was excited to begin coming to the ward so we are still very hopeful for Vivian and believe that she will stay faithful to her commitments. 

I just want to encourage y'all to invite your friends and family to have dinner with you (and sign up to feed the missionaries on the same night) and also invite your friends to church. You'd be surprised how many people would come just to try it out. Remember, "Behold, I sent you out to testify and warn the people, and it becometh every man who hath been warned to warn his neighbor. Therefore, they are left without excuse, and their sins are upon their own heads." D&C 88:81-82

Week 10: Stay Safe

Nothing too exciting has happened this week. The other day we went over to Tosin's house to try to fix his little refrigerator. One of our investigators taught us a little about refrigeration because he is taking an HVAC class, so we used our new knowledge to help out our best. Afterwards we went outside and saw a little memorial on the street and he told us that a few days ago there was a man working on a car to make a little bit of money for his family. He had to lift up the car but didn't have anything but a little bottle-neck jack and no jack stands. Sadly the car fell onto him and he didn't have any way of getting out or getting help. It was a strong reminder to me of how fast life can change or end. That's why it's so important that we always live a life in such a way that we are prepared to enter into the rest of God and not enter into an eternal regret. Week 35: Missionary work and mechanic work

First off I want to apologize because I took the equivalent of 0/342569243 pictures this week. I'll improve for next week.  This week was an upgrade from last week, not too much tracting was done and we had some good lessons. We were blessed with a couple of new investigators. One is named Dave and he's super funny. When we first ran into him he told us to "stay groovy" as we said goodbye to him. After our first lesson with him we think that he had a lot better understanding than most when we tell people that we believe that we're the same church that Christ established and that we're the only true church on the earth. He told us that what we were suggesting was quite a lot to take in and that it would take him some more lessons and reading and praying for him to know for himself if what we were saying was true.  This week we were also blessed with the opportunity to give some service. Week 85: That week between Christmas and New Years when you don't know what day it is

Well probably lots to update on since I didn't really feel like writing much last week. Recap of last week in pictures: 1. We got arrested! Jk some guy got arrested outside and so the doors were locked and we had to bang on them to get in.  2. Christmas eve!  3. Trip to the mall!  This week was pretty good. Can't beat being able to FaceTime the family and talk. On Thursday we did our usual weekly service at the community farm and some of the other elders in the zone have been joining and we've started a tradition of going to eat lunch afterwards so all the Christmas gift cards have come in clutch. On Friday we did some service for Larry. So Larry has an adopted grandson, a granddaughter and a grandson-in-law that live with him. He's getting pretty old so it's hard for him to clean and stuff like that. So we volunteered to help clean up the backyard in preparation for their new years party/BBQ.
