Week 67 : Mi día como misionero español

Hey everyone how was your week??

My week was pretty good and we were able to have some good experiences. On Tuesday we basically were in meetings all day because in the morning we had our weekly district council and then we got to travel back to Rancho for the 4 week meeting. Basically 4 week is a meeting that new missionaries and their trainers go to to make sure that they don't want to kill each other. Luckily we don't.

On Thursday we FINALLY taught a new person in the area. Her name is Kimberly and we tracted into her last week. We showed her a marked Book of Mormon and told her about it and why it's so important. We talked about our basic belief of Christ's true church being brought back to the earth. We offered her a free (unmarked) copy of the Book of Mormon but since mine looked so cool she asked if she could have it so I had to make another marked copy to tract with.

Okay so back to Thursday. We show up at the time we scheduled (actually we had that 4 week meeting so we had to reschedule for Thursday) and she had cookies for us! Sadly her hubby wasn't home so we stood on the front porch and sweated a lot! She had already read to page 25 in the Book of Mormon and had things underlined and stuff. She asked us which church was the "great and abominable church" 1 Nephi 13:6. So we had to explain that. She had many questions and wanted to know the why of everything in our doctrine. Most of what we talked about was the plan of Salvation. We talked about the main differences (authority, heaven(s), and the Godhead) and why we have those differences. We got into the meat a little before the milk so we left her a restoration pamphlet to read before we went back. Big hopes for her.

Friday we had a pretty cool experience. We went out to visit a family with a member from the bishopric. It really was one of the best examples of ministering I've seen. The bishopric member was and has been a true friend for many years to this family. He was in tune with the Spirit well enough to know when he should reach out to them. So we showed up a couple days after a pretty big family feud. We shared the parable of the prodigal son and there was some consolation given and received. We ended the night giving blessings to all the members of the family that were present.

Because of our night with the bishopric member we got back to our apartment later than we planned because we had exchanges that night. I went on exchanges with our district leader, Elder Welsh. We were driving back to their apartment (a little later than usual because of the experience mentioned above) and all of a sudden we found ourselves in a police checkpoint. There were many cones and good and guns. They were checking driver's licenses so they didn't stop us too long or nothing. First time I've had that fun experience.

I was in his area and he's a Spanish elder so it was a pretty smooth sailing day. We talked about music and games and mission stuff. In the morning we helped with a move in the Spanish ward. The lady we were helping wasn't actually a member, and that's why we were there. We (he talked and I sat there) taught a less active family and ended up giving a couple of the daughters blessings. The mother got their number and said that she wanted go feed them soon. Then at the end of the night "we" taught Miguel. Pretty humble circumstances in the more ghetto part of the zone. Really gave me the feeling of a true missionary.

Then driving home Elder Worsham and I were stopped at a stop light and on the corner there was a cop that had cornered a car with his own vehicle and had his door open and gun drawn. The light turned green and then we saw about 5 or 6 more police cars rush towards the place we were coming from. We're probably on a future episode of cops so keep an eye out for us mobbin down the street in our gray Corolla!

I love you all! Make sure to minister in the inspired way that Christ would.

Love,
Elder Puzey
