Week 18: Baptism Number Two

The most exciting thing that happened this week was the baptism of our investigator, Diane. I was able to be the one to baptize her but Elder Kunz was with us in the font because she has a broken arm and wasn't able to use it and we wanted to make sure that everything went right. When she came out of the water and we confirmed everything with the witnesses her first reaction was "I did it" with a big ol' smile on her face. There is no better feeling than seeing that smile from someone who just made their first covenants with our Father in Heaven. Elder Kunz was able to confirm her yesterday and that same smile re-appeared. It's amazing to see the light that enters these people once they come to the knowledge of the goodness of God and follow the example of our brother and Savior.

After emailing last P-Day, the other elders that we live with and I drove through the ghost town that's up here which was pretty cool. Sadly we couldn't get out of the car because every house and street has a "No Trespassing" sign, so we'll have to wait till we aren't representatives of Christ to go and explore. Luckily the weather has cooled off a bit and most of the time we are sitting around the low 90's or high 80's.

This coming week we are being visited by Elder Eduardo Gavarret of the Seventy which will be pretty cool. I'll make sure to get pictures and everything. Other than that there isn't too much to report. We had a couple of investigators move and/or drop us so we're going to be doing a lot of finding this next week and also going back to try the potentials that we have accumulated thus far in the transfer. I want to remind all of you, especially the members of the church, that you can always help out the missionaries and should actively be trying to do so. The last 5 baptisms that elders in the Hurtado House (where I'm living) had were ALL member referrals. Remember the words of the Lord, "And if it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father. And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!" Help yourself feel this joy, help the missionaries feel this joy and help your friends and family feel this joy.

I love you all, praying for those affected by hurricanes and earthquakes.
Love,
Elder Puzey
