Well the first week of being in Chino is in the books. Let me try to remember if anything crazy happened. I'm still in a YSA ward so we get to whip around in a gray Corolla. Still thinking of a name for her. On Thursday we met with our family ward's Bishop and we compiled a list of some part member families to try and teach. One of them had been working with the previous elders for a while so we're hoping to continue working with him and see him baptized soon hopefully. Other than that we weren't left with much. On Saturday the Chinese elders than we live with had a baptism. The person getting baptized is Chinese but they actually go to our family ward so it was a baptism for us as well, kinda haha. The ward has a goal of 7 baptisms this year and they just hit number four so we're looking to come in clutch. The other day we got a phone call from a contact in our phone named "Tony 'Thailand Chef'". Turns out this old Asian guy gives...
This week was pretty good down here in Southern California. On Saturday we met up with Amanda. We found Amanda last week when Elder Talbot and I were on exchanges. While we were having our first lesson with her I feel like I got a slight glimpse of how God sees us. Amanda has a lot of tattoos and told us she considers herself a tom boy. She looks and acts the part giving us a few short stories from her spotty past. But what's amazing is that none of that matters. When I looked at her I was simply glad that she was sitting there talking to us, recognizing that she needed a slight course correction. She was open and she was sharing the light that she had with us, as limited as it was, she treasured it. And we sit there so glad that she is at least willing to try to gain more light. And there we are with a message that will change her life forever. It won't be easy, it isn't easy for any of us, but it will be worth that and we know that. I think that is how God sees ...
Well it's finally here. This past week has been pretty interesting. An elder went home so we're in a trio with his companion for the rest of the transfer. Three other missionaries are going home as well, all of them before me which is sad. On Monday we found this part member family that moved in to the ward. They're way cool and have some un-baptized children. They came to church yesterday! And then during three minutes of passing one of them got offended by a member and left, RIP. On Saturday I was on exchanges with one of the assistants down in Rancho. We talked the whole day about cars and music and it was a nice break. Looking forward to this week I have my departing interview on Thursday and then departing Temple trip and FHE on Friday. Sunday afternoon I go down to the office and hangout with the assistants until they take me to the airport the next morning. If you've made it this far and you're reading this then congratulations! You've mad...
