Week 45: Down to the Valley

So after 4 months in Hesperia with Elder Nordgren we both got transferred out. Pretty sad cause we had a lot of good things happening the past couple of weeks or so. More on that later. I am down in Rancho Cucamonga as a Zone Leader still with my new companion Elder Bryner. Elder Bryner was a district leader in my zone the first transfer that I was in Hesperia so that's pretty cool. He's a great guy and a hard worker so I'm excited for these next few weeks with him!

Now for a little recap of my last week in Hesperia:
We left the area with two people on date to get baptized. Austin and Devin. I've talked about them both before but here's a quick reminder. Austin is the boyfriend of the Young Women's President. Devin is the son of a less-active lady in the ward. The Bear Valley ward isn't going to get replacement elders (the whole mission is losing missionaries so a lot of wards are dropping down to one set, it is not because we are bad missionaries (I hope?)) So we are excited for the sisters to keep working with them and hopefully in the near future I'll be able to head up there for a couple of baptisms. The coolest thing to happen was literally our last full day there. We have been teaching this family (the Salvatierra family) and they're awesome! We taught them three lessons and they were at church yesterday! A couple lessons ago I was on exchanges but Elder Nordgren and Elder Jeppson mentioned something about not drinking coffee and when we showed up the next time Lupe (the wife) told us that she made Tony (the husband) stop drinking coffee. They all bring their notepads and Book of Mormons to the table for the lesson (or their iPads because they've downloaded the gospel library app). They take notes and ask questions and everything is just perfect when we teach them. It's like a scene straight out of "The District". So needless to say they are way awesome and they're doing everything right in order to get an answer if the messages that we have been sharing are true or not. At church we told them that we would both be leaving and they were devastated. They asked if we could visit and why this had to happen and everything like that so we had to explain how missions work a little bit. Unfortunately they couldn't stay for all three hours but they really said that they enjoyed the first meeting. So they head home and a few minutes later we get a text from them asking us if they could have us over for dinner. Of course we said yes so we dropped by their house one last time. They had four huge containers of Panda Express (we haven't gotten to teach them about the sabbath day yet...) waiting for us. We all digged in and got to talking about the gospel and missions and stuff, it was very fun. Then they gave us some Thank-You cards and we took pictures and had desert. Really sad to be leaving them but the Lord is in charge of this work so I'm just leaving everything in His hands. We did all that we can and that's all that matters. Sad to be leaving Elder Nordgren too. We worked real hard and real well together and really turned the area around. It was a good four months with him, he's staying in Hesperia as a Zone Leader too but in a different area since ours got closed and handed over to the sisters.

Glad to finally make it to the Valley, y'all can expect a lot more pictures of fancy cars and such. Hope y'all have a great week!
Love,
Elder Puzey
