Week 43: Daylight Time Suckings
Not a whole lot to report this week. We had zone conference on Wednesday and I was asked to conduct that. Luckily I didn't trip over any words or nothing. It was a pretty good conference, nothing too crazy happened.
Some updates on investigators/ recent converts:
Vivian wasn't at church, don't really know why but she dropped her phone is some water so we can't get in contact with her. Luckily she's relying on her church friends so nothing to worry about there.
Xavier didn't make it to church yesterday which is really sad. We had a good lesson with him on Tuesday and almost got him on date but he said he really needs to learn more about the church before committing. We're getting there, slowly.
Chris is a new investigator from last week. He seems very sincere. He's going to the local community college up here and he actually played football with one of the members from the Samoan ward so that's cool! We taught him the restoration and then we taught him about the Book of Mormon and he seems to more fully understand our claim of being the ONLY true church and that he can know if we're correct by reading and praying about the Book of Mormon. We're hopeful that he progresses.
Last Saturday before Vivian's baptism we were out tracting and came across Tony and his wife Lupe. They recognized us as Mormon missionaries and said that they were busy right then but that we could come back. So this Saturday we went back and they let us in and they're super friendly. For a while Tony was in Guatemala and he would go to the Mormon church so he could learn English from the missionaries and they could learn Spanish from him. We started to talk about the restoration and we started with a prayer and the wife was surprised that "they pray like us". I'm sure someone along the road told em that we pray to Joe Smith or something like that. We gave them both a Book of Mormon and explained why it is so important. Hopefully they read some before we return.
Sebastian: Another Victor Valley Community College student. He's pretty busy but we taught him the restoration a few weeks ago and we were able to catch him on Tuesday and it really just turned into a Question and Answer session but that's what we're here for haha.
Juanita is an older lady (84) and she's really funny. She's Catholic and has said that "she'd never be a Mormon" but when we come over she says, "Oh it's my Mormon friends". We're getting there, again, slowly. We used the Book of Mormon to answer questions that she has about life so hopefully she liked the answers.
Ross: "I'm 3/4 done" We get to the lesson. He's on 1 Nephi 2...
Dave 1: Very busy can't meet unless the weather is good. Still groovy
Dave 2: In and out of the hospital but we gave him a Book of Mormon to read during his recovery.
Jose 1: New investigator don't really know how solid the understanding was since he said he "believes everything" we said after the restoration.
Jose 2: Might have died? Haven't seen him in a minute.
Jose 3: Works three jobs so haven't been able to see him since we taught him the restoration a long time ago.
Other than that, Elder Nordgren and I are having a blast together. Don't know if we're losing our minds or just really good friends cause we're non-stop laughing. I hope that everyone is doing awesome and didn't get killed by Daylight Savings. Our ward-mates were late to church cause they didn't realize the time changed but hey, they got two investigators to church so they're the real winners. Love you all!
Love,
