Week 41: Too Sweet

This week went by pretty quickly even though it didn't feel like a whole lot happened.

Some good things:
1) Vivian passed her baptismal interview!!! So we are excited for this weekend when she'll be baptized and confirmed.
2) Her returning less-active nephew got interviewed and was sustained to receive the Priesthood and he's getting ordained tonight so he might/maybe/could baptize his aunt!
3) A woman named Mama Shirley moved back into the ward after being away for a few months and she is hilarious! She's making a bunch of fried chicken for the party after Vivian's baptism.
4) We had a stake coordination meeting and the Stake President (who's in our ward) was really pleased with the progress in the zone. S/O to Hesperia A for being loaded up with awesome missionaries.

Some not so good:
1) Forgot to mention it in last weeks email but Elder Nordgren fell into a cactus lol. He's fine though.
2) Devin, our part member investigator STILL hasn't gotten to church but he said he's been sick with the flu so we might forgive him.

This week at church Elder Nordgren and I both realized just how much we love this ward. They are constantly helping us with our missionary work. Every time Vivian has come to church she has always been welcomed with open arms and has a lot of friends in the ward now. Yesterday we actually had to go back to the chapel and find her because after sacrament she was talking to all her friends. It was a good problem to have. In ward council we also started the "LAMP" project. The Less Active Melchizedek Priesthood rescue is something that has just been shared with our bishop. Basically we are helping these Priesthood holders feel the Spirit and remember the feelings that they've had. He shared a few stories of this project in action and it really sounds successful and very spiritual for everyone involved. Our role as missionaries is to tag along with those who are going to visit the less active brother and then we just share one of the first three lessons that we always share. Super stoked to be able to have some of these experiences and hopefully it helps to grow the strength of the ward.

I was able to go on exchanges with Elder Sutherland on Wednesday. We served in the same zone when I was back in Adelanto so I already knew him sorta. We had a good exchange, he is in a bike area so I wasn't particularly looking forward to that part but because of the wind and "cold" (it's cold for us here in California okay?) we chose to walk instead of bike. It allowed us to talk to everyone we walked past and it gave my legs a much needed workout. We taught a couple named Todd and Too Sweet. I am not joking about the name either. We taught them the restoration and they actually recently were taught by missionaries but got dropped so hopefully this time they're a little more prepared. As we continued to walk around we ran into Todd again a few hours after our lesson and he informed us that he just bought some trees (weed) and invited us to join him. We were honored at the offer but told him we'd have to pass... haha

Not too much else to report. Elder Nordgren and I are doing great and having a lot of fun together. Luckily he's going to BYU so I'm sure we'll see each other again after the mission. I want to invite everyone to just be a friend to someone that the missionaries bring to church. You wouldn't believe the effect that friends in the church will do for people returning to activity or investigating the church. The missionaries and the Lord will thank you!

Love you all!!
Love,
Elder Puzey
