Week 39: Fake Frogs

Not too much to report this week. Transfers were today and Elder Nordgren and I are staying together in the Bear Valley ward. There weren't actually too many changes in our zone we just had two members of the zone get transferred. One companionship got changed to the other zone in the stake so now our zone area only covers two wards which is super tiny which kinda sucks. We have to leave the zone to go to District meeting and church! We helped move people around today so we drove to Rancho today and we've already driven 100 miles. 

We got three new investigators this week but we'll see how solid they are. We are continuing to work with Vivian and her smoking is getting better and better! We're hoping that she'll be able to get baptized the first part of March. We taught a more than usual amount of lesson this week so it was good to get off the streets and into people's homes! 

Adventures of the week: If y'all remember a few weeks ago I got to help do some mechanic work where we helped remove a transmission. Well on Friday we were back to help put things back together. For being the smallest transmission ever (did I mention it was a Geo Metro we were working on?) it was a big ol pain. Nevertheless we got it done.

Adventure two: We got out of the truck to tract some apartment complex and we hear someone like "heyyyyy can you hep me jump my car??" So we drove the truck to the back of this woman's Volvo (their batteries are located in the trunk) so we gave her a jump... then she drove 10 feet and parked and turned the car off -_- Pretty sure her battery cable was just loose cause I tightened it with my fingers before jumping it. We left her to it and tracted the place and when we came back she was gone so must have just been the loose cable.

Wish us luck finding desert treasure and staying away from all the crazies!

Week 28: The Liahona

So we've been here for a week now so we're starting to get things figured out. This week actually flew by for me cause we were super busy! So Monday was transfers and that takes the whole day so that was over instantly. On Tuesday we were down in Rancho again to help bring up the luggage of the new missionaries in our zone. On Thursdays the assistants came up to the desert to talk to us and the other two zone leaders in our stake. All four of us have never been zone leaders before and have never had a companion that was a zone leader so they answered the questions that we had and walked us through some of our responsibilities and such. It was much needed. On Saturday we were back down in Rancho (I'm not complaining cause I love the valley) to go on exchanges with the APs. They live in the backyard of a members house and they call it a barn but the inside is exactly like a house and it is so nice! It's probably 3 times the size of our apartment. Week 49: #findjohn

Well this week wasn't too eventful in the teaching department. We did teach a new investigator named Don on Tuesday. He is Catholic and his son goes to Notre Dame so he has a pretty good understanding about authority. He seemed surprisingly accepting of the different things that we taught and he had real questions to ask us. He wondered if John was the last Apostle and if he never died then why isn't the whole world trying to find John? He said that with all the technology we have and phones and pictures that it should be easy for us to find him. He was mostly joking at this point but he brings up a good point. I think we should all try to find John. He's probably got a lot of stories he could tell us throughout the years. Maybe next time we go to teach Don we can tell him about the three Nephites?? Just kidding. I'm really enjoying living here in Rancho Cucamonga. It reminds me of California which I guess makes sense but being in the desert for 10 months made...

Week 1: World War

The first day at the MTC feels like you're in a tornado with whirlwinds and shafts in the whirlwinds. It's fast paced and everything is new. Luckily there is always someone to point you in the right direction. Not even 20 minutes being here and our new district is in the classroom which is where we meet our companions for the first time. My companion is Elder Jensen who is from Bountiful and spent a year at Utah State. The other two elders are our roommates for our stay at the MTC. I'll save y'all the boring information about our time in the classroom and just get to the good stuff. The story behind the title originates on the first floor of our residence building. That is where all of the language missionaries are staying so many of them have been there for nine weeks and some even up to twelve. When we first moved in one of the elders on our floor lead us to the first floor to get drinks from the vending machine. He told us to prepare for the "World War"...
