Week 13: Funeral Potatoes
What's up everyone? This week went by super fast and we had some good adventures. On Wednesday we went down the hill to Rancho to pick up our new car. The Lord really does know us individually and knows that Elder Etheridge and I love cars so this is the third car we've had. It's Toyota Corolla and even though it's base model it has some pretty cool gadgets. I always love going down to Rancho to see the palm trees and see all the cool cars. Often times it is also quite a bit cooler down there with just a slight increase in humidity.
On Saturday we went to the funeral for a member in the Adelanto Ward. We would go to visit JT and his wife every Thursday. Because of health complications they were not able to go to church so we would go over and talk with them, share a message and take the trash out. At the funeral the most talked about topic was how amazing it is that we will be able to be with our spouses forever. Being a member my whole life I think I have taken this for granted. Being there made me realize the great peace that comes from knowing of the Plan of Salvation and the opportunity that we have to continue progressing after this life.
This week I also finished the Book of Mormon for the first time on my mission. For a long while I have known that the Book of Mormon is true but reading it again has reaffirmed the truthfulness of this Gospel. Our Heavenly Father provided the Book of Mormon as convincing evidence that Joseph Smith was called of God to translate the record of the ancient inhabitants of the Americas. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is truly the same church that Jesus himself established while on the Earth. Invite everyone you know to come to that knowledge so they can bask in the light of the Gospel and feel the joy and peace that comes from the companionship of the Holy Ghost. They will thank you one day.
Yesterday we taught our investigator Stephen and we challenged him to quit smoking and it was amazing to see that this man, who once didn't even believe in God, is striving to come closer to his Savior and also has so much faith in the Heavenly help that he knows he will receive.
The weeks have been flying by and I can't wait to see y'all again but until then I want to invite y'all to continue reading the Book of Mormon DAILY both individually and as a family. You cannot afford to not read.
Love,
