Week 80: Thanksgiving

Well I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving that included a lot of Turkey and football. Normally we only get an hour for dinner but because it was Thanksgiving we were allowed to stay for three hours. We had dinner with a family that feeds us pretty often so we knew them really well and in between plates of turkey and potatoes we talked about movies and missions and stuff like that. It was nice to have just a little bit of relaxing time.

We had a cool experience on Friday. We had just finished eating dinner with a brother in the ward and we were trying to figure out what we wanted to do. A few weeks ago we stopped by a part member family and they told us to come back after Thanksgiving. To me that means like a week or so afterwards cause everyone knows that Thanksgiving really lasts until the leftovers are gone. Well Elder Palacios was adamant that we stop by this family because technically it was after Thanksgiving. We show up and the husband (the one who is not a member of the church) opened up the door. We introduced ourselves since we had never actually met him. We told him we were just coming by to see if they needed anything. He told us that there was someone from the ward that was on the way to give his wife a blessing. He told us that we were called there and he let us in to wait. Turns out his wife (an active member) was really sick because of Crohn's disease and there were two brothers from the ward on their way to give her a blessing. When they got there one of the two men was actually the guy that had just taken us out to dinner so that was pretty funny. Then the blessing took place and we left. We're hoping that we can stop by again soon and see if we can't teach the husband a little bit more. Missionaries have taught him in the past but we'll still give it a shot!

Other than that it was a pretty slow week. Luckily because of Thanksgiving a lot of people were home so we could get into contact with them and see if they're still interested. A couple were so we set up a time to go back. Hopefully good things happen soon. During Black Friday the Walmart we live next to didn't burn down so I think that's a successful Black Friday experience for us!

Love,
Elder Puzey
